The feasibility study for the development of the IDAM of Fortaleza prepared by GS INIMA BRASIL has been selected by the Ceará Water and Sewerage Company (Cagece). The scope of the study includes the analysis of the technical, legal-legal and economic-financial feasibility regarding the design, financing, implementation-construction and operation of a seawater desalination plant in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza, under the Public Participation regime. Private (PPP).
These studies will serve as the basis for the future tender for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant, scheduled for the end of this year.
Fortaleza is one of the three most important cities in the northeast region of Brazil, this being a project of vital importance to guarantee its economic and social development, given the increase in demand for water and the limited availability of the resource.
The planned investment will be around 600 MR$ (130 M€), being carried out exclusively by the private initiative. The conclusion of the construction and start-up of the plant is scheduled for the year 2020, from this date the operation and maintenance of the plant will begin for a period of not less than 0 years.
The plant will have an initial treatment capacity of 1 m3/s, with a forecast of future expansion to 2 m3/s, which will mean approximately 30% of the resource consumed in the Fortaleza Metropolitan Region. All the knowledge acquired and consolidated by GS INIMA in the projects for the construction and operation of seawater desalination plants, which together exceed 1 million m³/day of capacity, has been key in the preparation of the feasibility studies requested by CAGECE. .
The group led by GS INIMA BRASIL also adds the international experience of Teixeira Duarte Ingeniería y Construcciones and the support and local experience of the company from Ceará, Fujita Engenharia.
