- The second call of PERTE, Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation, selected two projects led by GS Inima.
- The digitalization projects in the water management of Aguas de Soria and the wastewater treatment system of the WWTP of Numancia de la Sagra, involve a total investment of 3,7 million euros.
Madrid, October 10, 2024.
GS Inima, a world reference in the water sector, has obtained more than 3 million euros in PERTE funds for the digitalization and improvement of the urban water cycle. These grants will be assigned to two key projects: the modernization and digitalization of the wastewater treatment system of the Numancia de la Sagra Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and the digital transformation of the integral water cycle in Soria and its surrounding areas, with the aim of optimizing efficiency, improving the quality of service and adapting to the challenges of climate change.
“The aim of bringing innovation and continuous improvement in our projects is a constant at GS Inima. Working on these public-private collaboration projects exemplifies our commitment to ensure a more efficient, sustainable and improved service aligned to the current and future needs of the communities we serve.”
Numancia 4.0 EDAR Digital: A transformative project for La Sagra Alta
The Numancia 4.0 EDAR Digital project has a budget of 1,29 million euros and aims to transform the EDAR of Numancia de la Sagra into a regional model of sustainability and circular economy. This project will benefit the municipalities of Illescas, Numancia de la Sagra and Yuncos, benefiting a total of 46.212 inhabitants.
The project focuses on the digitalization of the sanitation and wastewater treatment infrastructure by implementing an advanced SCADA control system, monitoring flow rates and optimizing wastewater treatment processes. A photovoltaic plant will also be installed to improve energy efficiency and reduce CO² emissions. The main objectives include:
- Environmental preservation. Control and improve the quality of discharges into the Gansarinos stream.
- Digitalization of processes. Implement technologies that facilitate remote management and optimization of the system.
- Adaptation to climate change. Incorporate tools for emergency and extreme scenario management.
- Transparency and participation. Promote access to information through digital platforms for citizens and entities involved.
Digitalization of the integral water cycle in Soria: Innovation at the service of sustainability
Aguas de Soria will carry out a comprehensive project for the digitalization and modernization of the urban water cycle with an investment of 2,41 million euros. This project includes 15 strategic actions covering all phases of the water cycle, from catchment and drinking water treatment to distribution, sanitation and wastewater treatment. The main lines of action are focused on:
- Improving water consumption control. Implementation of smart meters and leak detection systems to reduce losses.
- Reduction of environmental impact. Optimization of the sewage network to minimize polluting discharges.
- Energy saving. Estimated 14,4% savings in system energy consumption.
- Climate adaptation plans. Development of protocols for drought and flood management.
The project aims to revolutionize water management in Soria, promoting greater transparency and citizen participation through digital platforms that will simplify access to information and enable collaborative decision-making.
“The actions included in both projects represent an improvement in the quality of life of citizens, as they will not only contribute to the continuous improvement in the quality of service, but also address the challenges of climate change, ensuring a more sustainable and responsible use of resources.”
A commitment to sustainability and innovation
Both “Numancia 4.0 EDAR Digital” and the digitalization of the urban water cycle in Soria represent key initiatives for the modernization of water systems, adapting them to the demands of the 21st century. With the obtaining of PERTE funds, Aguas de Soria and GS Inima reinforce their commitment to sustainability and efficiency, consolidating their position as leaders in water management at the regional level.
