The Group closed the 2021 financial year with an EBITDA of 72.9 million euros, which represents 31% of the sales volume.
Madrid, 02 June 2022.
GS Inima, a world leader in the water sector, positioned as one of the Groups with the largest volume of plants in terms of concessions and with the longest history in reverse osmosis desalination, presents its main financial and activity figures for the 2021 financial year. The Group closed the year consolidating continuous growth and exceeding 233 million euros in turnover, which represents a 6,5% increase compared to the year 2020.
These figures demonstrate the strength of the business model of GS Inima, which is recurring and stable, in a challenging and uncertain macroeconomic scenario. EBITDA comes mainly from concession assets that have low demand risk.
The result before taxes of the Group reached the figure of 36 million euros, which represents 15,39% of the volume of sales and with a growth rate compared to the previous year of 4,9%. All this despite the crisis caused by Covid-19, which has continued to hit the world economy hard, very directly affecting the currency market and causing strong currency fluctuations, which the Group Inima has managed to get around
“It has been a good year for the GS Inima group. We are very satisfied with another year of growth in operations, cash flows and margins, in line with forecasts. The expansion strategy that we have continued to develop has also allowed us to enter the Asian market with an award in South Korea and an acquisition of an industrial asset in Vietnam.”

Marta Verde, CEO of GS Inima underlines, “It has been a good year for the GS Inima group. We are very satisfied with another year of growth in operations, cash flows and margins, in line with forecasts. The expansion strategy that we have continued to develop has also allowed us to enter the Asian market with an award in South Korea and an acquisition of an industrial asset in Vietnam.”
Financial Performance
The turnover during 2021 reached 233.9 million euros, the breakdown by activities being as follows: Concessions (€208,9M), Operation and Maintenance (€17,8M), Construction (€3,6M), and Engineering (3,5 €XNUMXM).
10,7% of the activity was carried out in Spanish territory and 89,3% internationally. It is worth highlighting the initiation of two projects of special relevance for GS Inima and which are related to the design, construction and subsequent operation of two seawater desalination plants in Oman.
Outlook 2022
GS Inima closed the first quarter of 2022 with a portfolio of 8.564 million euros, 13,4% more than on the same date in 2021. This indicator reaffirms the diversification and strong commercial activity of the Group. It is important to highlight that, during the year 2022, GS Inima continues to open up market opportunities in Asia. This fact has been reflected with the acquisition of the PMV company in Vietnam. At the same time, the presence that the Group already has in the water sector in countries such as Spain, Brazil, the United States, Mexico, Chile, Oman, Algeria and Morocco continues to be strengthened.
“We operate in a very difficult environment with challenging market dynamics in the short term and little visibility in the normalization of the supply chain, therefore we will continue our efforts to ensure that GS Inima continue on the sustainable path. In this sense, the Group intends not only to dedicate itself to water management but also to focus on renewable energies, more specifically on solar energy through photovoltaic technology. As a Group, we have the responsibility to promote the decarbonisation of our planet, which is why we need to promote frameworks that allow the necessary acceleration of renewable energies. In this sense, photovoltaic solar energy is inexhaustible and non-polluting, which makes it the most efficient solution.
