ALGECIRAS
WasteWater Treatment
WWTP Algeciras, a long-demanded infrastructure in the southern region of Spain.
The WWTP treats water for a population equivalent to 212.000 inhabitants, with an average flow of 51.000 cubic meters per day. It has pretreatment, primary decantation, biological reactor, secondary decantation, sludge treatment, thermal drying, recovery of electrical energy from digestion gas, and tertiary treatment. One of the advances that the treatment plant enjoys with respect to a conventional processing station is the biological reactor, which allows one of the phases of the water treatment process to be carried out with less space requirements. In 2.000 square meters what is required in other stations is five times more.
